Following his artist residency at the Villa Saint Clair in Sète, in the summer of 1991, Johan Creten was invited to present the works he had created during his stay in two exhibitions: the first, a group exhibition at the Espace Paul Boyé, and the second, a personal exhibition based on a specific project in a place chosen by the artist, "la quarantaine" in the port of Sète, where he installed a series of sculptures in abandoned cells.

"...En Quarantaine", Experimental film directed by Gerrit Schreurs and Johan Creten, 2020
“To discover the works, there is only one possible access: a crossing by boat to reach this place between the land and the immense expanse of the Mediterranean. A symbolically charged crossing, a journey on the Styx between life and death, towards a place known for the isolation of the sick and the outcasts.”
